As part of the MK50 celebrations, Grid Arts working with Motus Dance ran a two-week residential at MK College in September 2016. This was the first project the new Performing Arts students took part in when they joined the college. Students worked on dance, drama and spoken word as well as an artistic installation using light, projection and sound. All three groups then joined together to present a stunning performance celebrating Milton Keynes from their perspective as young people.
With funding from the Milton Keynes Community Foundation Grid Arts worked with Encompass and Camphill Community to produce a show celebrating MK 50. We were joined by musicians and practitioners Graeme Leak and Joseph Fitton and choreographers Helen Parlor and Chris Bradley of Motus Dance. We ran workshops firstly with Encompass which culminated in a “Sharing” in December 2016 and then in early 2017 we brought in Camphill. We then joined the groups together to produce a moving, thought provoking and visually stunning show at the Chrysalis Theatre in April 2017. The show included dance, music, sound, spoken, light and projection.
